Outreach Worker x 2 (working with African communities)
Rate of pay: £16.63 per hour (sessional work)
African Communities Empowerment (ACE) is seeking two sessional outreach workers to support the delivery of their peer-led rapid HIV testing and Health Check service in both Hounslow and Ealing. Members of the African community are currently disproportionately affected by HIV, as well as late diagnosis of HIV infection. We seek to empower members of the community to improve health outcomes with regular testing and access to appropriate care, and in doing so reduce onward transmission of HIV.
Central to this role is the ability to discuss sexual behaviours and lifestyle choices in a non-judgemental manner, supporting service users through the testing process. If you feel passionately about addressing health inequalities, and have the ability to engage and empower your peers we would love to hear from you. We offer full training in all aspects of rapid HIV testing so previous experience is not necessary, however enthusiasm and empathy are essential. Knowledge of HIV and its transmission, as well as that of other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), is highly desirable. An awareness of the broader health needs of African communities would also be of great benefit for this role.
Applications from members of the African Community are particularly encouraged, as well as those from women, who are currently underrepresented in our service. For further information please see the job description attached below. To apply please complete the application form found below and e-mail it to email@example.com by Sunday the 31st of January 2016.
